About This Bursary

Lavis/Wilson Queensland Child Watch Committee Bursary

From 1984 to 2014 the Queensland Child Watch Committee operated under the umbrella of the Australian Early Childhood Association, with the Objective to act as an advocate for young children and their families for quality of Early Childhood Education and the protection of young children in every way. When disbanded in 2014, the Committee chose to continue its legacy by offering annual Bursaries of $1,000 to students enrolled in Early Childhood Tertiary studies who displayed a firm desire to teach children in the Early Years (Birth to Grade 3) and who showed a firm commitment to understand and work for the “whole” child – emotional, physical and educational care.

The bursary was named to honour two founding members Jennette Lavis OAM (chair) and Jocelyn Wilson who worked tirelessly on the committee for the whole 30 years.

The value of the bursary is $1,000.
