DESCRIPTION:The first Picnic Sunday for 2025 will be held 11am – 2pm on Sunday 2 March. \nBring your friends and family and celebrate the wonderful women in your life in the lead up to International Women’s Day. \nVisitors can bring their own blanket\, basket\, food and drinks (no alcohol permitted)\, and find a shady spot in the beautifully manicured formal gardens surrounding Government House or under the majestic West Indian Cedar Tree which has shaded the lawns at the front of Fernberg for well over a century. \nEntry is free and no registration is required. All the details you need are below! \nKey Information: \n• The Fernberg Estate will be open for picnics within the grounds between 11am and 2pm. \n• Entry is free via Gate B at 168 Fernberg Road\, Paddington. \n• Visitors are required to bring everything they need for a picnic\, including hats\, sunscreen\, water bottles\, picnic blankets and food. Refillable water fountain onsite. \n• Access to the Estate will be to designated areas only. \n• Street parking only (available on and near Fernberg Road). \n• Picnic days are wheelchair and pram accessible\, and staff can assist with drop-offs. \n• No Alcohol or pets permitted (with the exception of assistance dogs). \n• While there is no access to the House itself during Picnic Sundays\, the House is regularly open on other occasions for free guided tours. \n• Picnic Sundays are free to attend. \nEntry to the Estate and Gardens is dependent on compliance with current Government House Protocol and Queensland Government health guidelines.

DESCRIPTION:NCWQ would like to share an open invitation from Government House to take part in a community R U OK? bushwalk around the Fernberg Estate on Thursday 8 September from 9am to 10am (with arrival from 8:45am).\n  \nAbout\nGovernment House invites you to take part in a community bushwalk around the Fernberg Estate on Thursday 8 September from 9am to 10am (with arrival from 8:45am). To be held on R U OK? Day\, this event is hosted by Government House in partnership with Health and Wellbeing Queensland. \nParticipation is free\, with walkers required to register their attendance through the Eventbrite page. Entry to the Estate is via Gate B\, with street parking available on Fernberg Road and surrounds. The pathway is approximately 1.1km in length and winds its way through the ten hectares of bushland occupying the Estate. \nParticipants should have a medium level of fitness\, as there are some hills and challenging surfaces\, including gravel pathways. Unfortunately\, this event is not wheelchair accessible. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking clothes and sturdy shoes\, and to bring a hat\, sunscreen and a water bottle. \nUnfortunately pets (with the exception of assistance dogs) are not permitted. By learning more about the illness it will be easier to provide the right kind of support and assistance. \nAs a carer\, it’s important to ensure your own physical\, social and emotional needs are met so you can cope better in times of extreme stress.
