Mingle when you arrive and pick up some raffle tickets before morning tea is served on the verandah which is bordered by beautiful iron lace railings.

Guest Speakers will then enlighten you about the Red Dress coming to Australia, the Miegunyah House Museum, and the NCWQ Bursary Program. Small group tours of the Women’s Museum will follow. If you have been meaning to check out Miegunyah House, now is the time to do it. If you are unable to attend you are invited to make a donation.

The Red Dress Project is a collaboration of embroiderers from across the world. NCWQ are pleased to support the Queensland Women’s Historical Association to bring the Red Dress to Australia. It is more than a beautiful dress, it is a movement which has seen over 300 people come together to achieve something wonderful representing peace and achievement through cooperation. Queensland Women’s Historical Association’s Janelle Byrne is the driving force behind the dress coming to Australia. Money raised from ticket sales and half of the money raised from raffles will support this project.

The NCWQ Bursary Program empowers women by assisting them to achieve independence through education. NCWQ coordinates the program through Team Bursary, under the Leadership of Kathy Cavanagh AM, who are all volunteers. This year’s Bursary Program of over 35 bursaries, is valued at over $50,000. Sponsorship ranges across the three levels of government, women’s organisations affiliated with NCWQ, in Memorial and private individuals. The bursaries are for Queensland female students, categories range from Year 12 to PHD Studies. Some target specific groups such as First Nation, Refugee, mature age “second chance”, disability and survivors of domestic violence as well as specific career paths such as nursing, medical and Ophthalmology while other bursaries are more open. Half of the money raised from the raffle sales will contribute to the coordination of the Bursary Program.
