The National Council of Women of Australia AGM and Conference ‘Removing the Gender Divide’ will be held on Tuesday 17 October, in Sydney, at the H C Coombs Centre, Kirribilli.
Attendance is requested from National Council of Women Constituent Councils from all Australian States. The Conference includes a ‘Members only’ AGM at 1:30pm, afternoon tea and Conference.
A reception will then be held at Admiralty House, Kirribilli, on Tuesday evening hosted by the NCWA Patron, Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley.

Dr Hannah Tonkin, NSW Women’s Safety Commissioner
Dr Hannah Tonkin commenced as the inaugural NSW Women’s Safety Commissioner in February 2023. In this role she provides leadership on whole-of-government and cross-sector initiatives to address domestic, family and sexual violence. Previously Hannah worked as an international lawyer and policy adviser at the United Nations, as the Director of Disability Rights at the Australian Human Rights Commission, and as a barrister in London and Adelaide. While at the UN, Hannah worked in a range of conflict and post-conflict contexts, including Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Gaza, Ukraine and the former Yugoslavia, with a focus on protecting civilians in conflict, prosecuting war crimes and addressing sexual abuse within the UN system.
Annabelle Herd, CEO ARIA
Annabelle is the CEO of ARIA and PPCA. She came to the music industry in February 2021 following a 16-year career in television at Network 10, where she most recently held the role of Chief Operating Officer, looking after a range of functions, including operations, corporate and government affairs, and strategy. Prior to Network 10, she spent several years working in government, including four years in senior political roles for then Minister for Communications and the Arts, Senator the Hon. Richard Alston AO. She is a Council Member of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and was previously a board member of Save the Children Australia, Freeview Australia, and Free TV Australia. In 2019 Annabelle was invited to participate in the McKinsey Remarkable Women Program. Annabelle has a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) from the Australian National University.
Leanne Pilkington, Deputy President Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA)
Leanne’s 40 years of experience covers the full spectrum of real estate services: sales, property management, retail, and commercial leasing and management, as well as property development. Being recognised in a range of awards such as Telstra and Optus Business awards, to mention just two, she is considered a thought leader and one of the industry’s most influential people. Leanne has pioneered a range of industry firsts, including being the founder of the Real Women in Real Estate (RWIRE) network, holding events around the country, improving diversity on the REI Board, and championing the growth of industry professionalism.
Janet Cribbes, CEO Tradeswomen Australia (TWA)
Born to Italian immigrants, Janet’s spent her childhood assisting her Mechanic father in the workshop. Her subsequent academic focus resulted in a career spanning three decades in state, community services, private sector and the NFP. Her term as Mayor of Port Phillip Council during 2004 to 2008 was followed by further community work in establishing the Community Bushfire Recovery Service after the Black Saturday 2009 Bushfires and chairing the working group to address issues of abuse in the Victorian Catholic Church. In 2021, Janet joined Tradeswomen Australia (TWA) as their CEO. TWA is dedicated to gender equality and empowerment and works at increasing female participation beyond the 2% of Australia’s trade industry workforce.
