The 2023 Women in Engineering (WiE) Bursary was presented on 24 August, at QUT Gardens Point Campus.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) implemented the bursaries initiative to encourage and support the participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
The four bursaries serve as a testament to TMR’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. They provide opportunities for women engineers to excel in their studies and future professional endeavours. Additionally, the initiative offers valuable guidance, advice and networking opportunities, empowering women engineers to thrive in their chosen fields.
Students who applied for the bursary were in attendance at the presentation, with bursaries awarded to Anna Cooper, Varley Kunde, Keeleigh Slater and Monica Vecchio.
NCWQ President Chiou See Anderson gave an inspiring speech as she recounted her own journey and encouraged the STEM students to diversify, embrace opportunities and to challenge stereotypes.
