Some causes for congratulations to NCWQ connections in the King’s Birthday 2023 Honours List, announced on 12 June.
Gail Paratz – National Council of Jewish Women Australia, Brisbane Section. Gail has been a member of NCWQ’s “Team Bursary” for many years, and was instrumental in initiating the Bursary sponsored by NCJWA for the last few years. She is involved with most of the InterFaith activities in Brisbane. She received a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for service to the Jewish community, and to interfaith relations.
Mark McDonnell – the first male member of NCWQ! Mark has been providing services to homeless and vulnerable in the West End area for many years, while maintaining his career as a nurse. Some members of our affiliated organisations supported Mark in making sandwiches and food preparation and serving, supporting etc. He received a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for service to the community through charitable initiatives.
Jenny Gregory – Australian War Widows Queensland President since 2016, and National Secretary/Treasurer since 2020. War Widows were always keen attendees at the Bursary fund-raising functions, and other NCWQ functions over the years. She received a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for service to veterans and their families.
