Queensland Medical Women’s Society (QMWS) was founded in 1929 with the aim to further the professional development of Medical Women by education, research and improvement of professional opportunities. Existing almost 100 years, QMWS continues to promote the health and welfare of all Australians, particularly women and children.
QMWS strongly supports professional development, including participating in international conferences, networking with both medical and women’s groups, and mentoring opportunities to further members’ aspirations in the medical field.
The bursary is intended to assist the recipient to attend, present or participate Medical Women’s event or another Conference, particularly where the topic is relevant to medical women, women’s health issues, social issues relevant to women’s health or leadership by women.
Suggested meetings / conferences are listed below, and include events associated nationally with the Australian Federation of Medical Women (AFMW) and globally, with Medical Women’s International Society (either the global triennial, or regional meeting).
Preference/priority will be given to applicants where the attendance and/or invitation to present has been confirmed, with documentation to support this, and an explanation as to how the Bursary will assist this opportunity.
It is hoped that the recipient of the Bursary will also receive financial and non-financial benefits through their connection with this Bursary and QMWS, such as mentoring and engagement with a diversity of medical women and their interests.
The value of the bursary is $1,500.

Step 2 – Submit An Application – this occurs on the Zealous platform. You will be provided with a link at the end of the eligibility check. You will be asked to create a Zealous account with your name and email before you can proceed.
To be eligible to apply for this bursary, you must meet each of the specified Eligibility Criteria and be able to address the Selection criteria (as listed in Step 1 below).

1. You may apply for more than one bursary if you meet the relevant criteria. A separate application is required for each bursary.
2. Preference will be given to applicants who have not been a previous recipient in the NCWQ Bursary Program.
The details which you provide in the application are held in strict confidence and are accessed only by the Bursary Selection Panel members of the National Council of Women of Queensland Inc (“NCWQ”) Bursary Program and the Bursary Sponsor. Information contained in the application is to only be used for the purpose of administration of the NCWQ Bursary Program.
