Nina Schrinner is the Lady Mayoress of Brisbane and Chair of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust.
Nina is a mother, a lawyer, and former special advisor to the Attorney General. She was born in Queensland and has spent most of her life living in Brisbane’s eastern suburbs.
Nina has a real passion for people and absolutely loves the opportunity to provide encouragement and support for the fantastic work being done by charities across Brisbane. Like her husband Adrian, she believes that the sign of a strong, healthy city is a city with a big heart.
As the Chair of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust, Nina is devoted to ensuring the Trust not only continues supporting grassroots charities that are having such a big impact in our community, but also to enhancing Brisbane’s Reputation as a friendly and compassionate city that will host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In her role as Chair of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust, Nina has the opportunity to make a positive impact on a number of local Brisbane charities and to chat to some of the women making a real difference in the charity sector. Did you know that as at 30 June 2021 the Brisbane Local Government Area had an estimated resident population of approximately 1,272,461 persons; and roughly 50% are women or identify as women; and that approximately 69.5% of those persons are aged 15-64? The 2016 Census reports that approximately 20% of people over 15 undertook voluntary work with an organisation or group. These volunteers are at the hearts and souls of the charities that Nina and the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust support and are crucial to supporting Brisbane’s most vulnerable residents.
Brisbane Women’s Club is thrilled to have the Lady Mayoress speak to us about the impact women are having on the charity sector, particularly in relation to supporting local women of Brisbane.
