NCWQ Regional/Rural Bursary: meet our 2018 recipient!

This year’s NCWQ bursary award ceremony was one to remember. Among the many special women being recognised for their achievements and talents, was Joelle Cullen.

Receiving the NCWQ Regional/Rural bursary, Joelle was recognised for her achievements in a number of areas.

This bursary, sponsored by NCWQ, is one of the inaugural bursaries offered since the commencement of the program in 2009. Valued at $1000.00, the focus of the bursary is to assist young women living in regional or rural Queensland, relocate from home to commence their tertiary studies.

To apply for this bursary the following criteria must have addressed the following:

  • A female first year, full-time student in a tertiary course, such as at university, TAFE or the Conservatorium of Music
  • A resident of regional Queensland who has relocated from home for your tertiary studies. (Your home is outside the local government areas of Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.)
  • Involved in your home community, as shown by your activities to date
  • An Australian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Australia

NCWQ is very pleased to award this bursary to Joelle in 2018.

Joelle is enrolled at the University of Queensland in a Doctor of Medicine (MD) Provisional Entry for School Leavers course.

Joelle’s home is in Biloela, she attended Biloela High School where she received the Senior DUX Award.

She continues to work part time in the local chemist, cementing her desire to be a doctor.
