NCWQ South Burnett Mayor Bursary: meet our 2018 recipient!

This year’s NCWQ bursary award ceremony was one to remember. Among the many special women being recognised for their achievements and talents, was Kaitlin Moat.

Receiving the NCWQ South Burnett Mayor bursary, Kaitlin was recognised for her achievements in a number of areas.

This is the fourth year of sponsorship of this bursary by the South Burnett Regional Council for female students residing in its council area. The bursary recognises the additional difficulties faced by students living away from major cities, with studies often requiring time away from home and families. The bursary, valued at $1,000.00 also recognises the importance of community activities in maintaining the fabric of the rural environment.

To apply for this bursary, the following criteria must be addressed:

  • Are a female resident of the South Burnett Regional Council area
  • Are enrolled in a full-time, part-time or distance education course – either university or TAFE, to further develop your skills as a primary producer, or for the benefit of those residents of the local region
  • Can demonstrate your contribution to your local community, for example through a sports group, school, church, service club, CWA etc
  • Are an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia.

NCWQ is very pleased to award this bursary to Kaitlin in 2018.

Kaitlin is enrolled at the University of Queensland to complete a Bachelor of Psychological Science in an honours program where she hopes to graduate and pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical  Psychology.

Kaitlin’s home is in Nanango, where she attended Nanango High School and graduated with an  OP1.

Kaitlin is aware of the struggle of mental illness within the rural area and plans to use her degree to provide clinical help to those in need.

Her long term desire is to become a Rural GP and to move back into a rural town to practise medicine.

Congratulations Kaitlin! We are so looking forward to following your exciting ongoing journey.
