NCWQ to introduce new Advocacy Hubs

Catholic Women's League Christmas Lunch 2022

The new NCWQ Committee met for the first time on 14 December 2023 and discussed plans for 2024.

Subcommittees were established covering the key functions of Membership, Bursary Program, Events and Media/Publications.

NCWQ will be moving to establish Advocacy Hubs to increase engagement with affiliate organisations and sharpen our advocacy focus on key areas of interest to members including Economic independence, Education, Environment and Health & Safety. Other hubs will focus on Influence & Decision Making, and a Parliamentary Watch group. The Advocacy Hubs will operate similar to the model adopted by NCW in New Zealand, and will be led by new State Co-ordinator and former NCWQ President, Chiou See Anderson.

Incoming President Sandy Smith said the Committee wanted to deepen its engagement with Members. She encouraged all Members to attend NCWQ Committee Meetings which will be held virtually via Zoom on the following dates: 8 February, 11 April, 13 June, 8 August and 10 October. If you are interested in attending, please email info@ncwq.org.au to receive the Zoom invitation.

The Committee also confirmed that the Annual NCWQ Bursary Presentation would be held on 20 July 2024, in conjunction with the President’s Lunch, at The Women’s College, University of Queensland.

Stay tuned for further information on planned events.
