DOMESTIC AND FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION MONTH

The National Council of Women of Queensland is supporting a number of awareness-raising activities and events this month, and beyond:

At the 2023 Lady Musgrave Trust Forum, it was suggested we can all make a difference and change the culture by not being a bystander. The MATE Bystander Program has two free workshops aimed at changing the culture:

The I’m Safe app is a free mobile safety tool. Developer of the app, Samson Selladuri, spoke at our last NCWQ virtual meeting and has kindly provided links to make it easier to download onto your phone and learn more about the app. See links below.

I was pleased to see Samson was open to feedback, and the recently added features make it a ‘must have’ addition to your phone.

The guest speaker for our next NCWQ virtual meeting on Thursday 13 June is Ria Wong, who leads the Domestic Violence Team at Micah Projects, a not-for-profit organisation in Brisbane dedicated to creating justice and responding to injustice in our community.
