2016 Bursary Details 

The 2016 NCWQ Bursary Applications closed on April 4th, and recipients are now being selected.

Recipients will be notified by mid-May, with the presentation ceremony to be held on Thursday 2 June.

Bursary Criteria
Councillor Helen Abrahams

Application Form

  • A female TAFE student enrolled in one of these study areas: surveying; building and construction; landscaping; or horticulture, studying in at least your second year of a Certificate III of IV course, Associate Degree or Diploma course
  • An Australian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Australia
Councillor Vicki Howard

Application Form

  • A female student from the Brisbane City Council area, enrolled in a Masters or PhD course, research of which will lead to a direct benefit building a more inclusive community.
  • Able to demonstrate how your course of studies, work or involvement in volunteer or community organisations has helped build a more inclusive community to date. Examples of increasing inclusion include, but are not limited to, benefiting excluded/marginalised community members in the following areas: LGBTIQ, disability, ethnic or social minorities, etc.
  • An Australian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Australia.
DiH Health & Wellbeing Bursary

Application Form

  • A female over 16 years of age
  • Have been diagnosed with a mental illness
  • Are enrolled in or attending a post-secondary school education program or recognised course
  • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia.
Elements Living Bursary

Application Form

  • A female, under the age of 25
  • Enrolled in full-time studies or commencing full-time studies within 6 months of application
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to leadership through active participation in either a religious or community based organisation with the intent of improving the lives of seniors.
  • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia

ESA Bursary

Application Form

 

  • A female student enrolled in the first year of tertiary studies.
  • Have an immediate family member (parent, brother or sister) with a cancer diagnosis at the time of applying for the bursary.
  • Live in regional or rural Queensland. (Your home is outside the local government areas of Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.)
  • Can demonstrate commitment to leadership through active participation in the community.
  • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia.
Helen Ovens Memorial Bursary

Application Form

  • Currently or have been a stay-at-home Mum
  • Now combining full-time or part-time study (either on campus, or by distance/online) at a tertiary institute, TAFE college or other post-secondary course with parenting responsibilities
  • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia
Lavis/Wilson Queensland Child Watch Committee Bursary

Application Form

  • A female full time student beginning at least your second year of Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) studies at a Queensland Tertiary Institution, seeking support to assist you with your studies
  • Residing in Queensland and declaring that you intend to do so for the foreseeable future
  • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia.
June McNicol Science

Application Form

  • A female resident of Queensland enrolled in at least the second year of study in a Bachelor’s degree in a physical science (physics, chemistry, engineering, geology)
  • Able to demonstrate a record of achievement in the science field, either through their school or university studies, or through involvement in a science-related project (e.g. local conservation group)

NCWQ Bursary for a young woman from a refugee background Bursary

Application Form

  • Are a female high school student from a refugee background, having lived in Australia for at least 1 year
  • Have the capacity and potential to achieve educational outcomes (not only University level)
  • Must attend the bursaries presentation ceremony to accept the bursary and speak publicly.
Office for Women ATSI bursary

Application Form

  • An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander woman
  • Enrolled in a tertiary studies program
Office for Women (Transition) Bursary
Application Form
  • A young woman, under the age of 25
  • Transitioning from care (i.e. young people who have been in the care of the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, and are transitioning to independence)
  • Enrolled in a tertiary studies program
  • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia
Office for Women (Return to Work) Bursary
Application Form
  • A female over the age of 25
  • Enrolled in a tertiary studies program
  • Returning to either full-time or part-time employment after a break from the workforce

Senator Claire Moore Bursary

Application Form

  • A mature aged tertiary student enrolled in a course to become a special education teacher.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to the needs of special education students
  • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia
Soroptimist Bursary

Application Form

  • An Indigenous (Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) female who has completed at least their first year studying in the medical or health sector.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership in your local community.
South Burnett Mayor Bursary

Application Form

  • A female resident of the South Burnett Regional Council area
  • Enrolled in a full-time, part-time or distance education course – either university or TAFE, to further develop your skills as a primary producer, or for the benefit of those residents of the local region
  • Can demonstrate your contribution to your local community, for example through a sports group, school, church, service club, CWA
  • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia.
The Boyce Bursary

(Disability)

Application Form

  • A female student enrolled in post-secondary study
  • Eligible to receive a disability support pension
  • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia
The Boyce Bursary (Learning Disability)

Application Form

  • A female student enrolled in post-secondary study at TAFE or other recognised learning institution
  • Eligible to receive a disability support pension for a learning (intellectual) disability

The Val French AM Bursary for Students of Journalism

  • A female resident of Queensland
  • Enrolled in last or second last year of full-time studies in journalism either as a single degree or double degree course
  • Able to demonstrate involvement in her local community through activities such as volunteering in local sporting organisations, the church or service clubs

Tracy Davis MP Bursary

Application Form

  • A female student enrolled in a PhD course, which will lead to a direct benefit to women.
  • Able to demonstrate how your course of studies, work or involvement in volunteer or community groups has developed your interests in this field.

Young Woman Thinking Globally Bursary

Application Form

 

  • A female Queensland tertiary student.
  • Able to demonstrate passion and ongoing commitment to international development and volunteering (i.e. overseas volunteering, volunteering with an NGO or not-for-profit organisation within Australia, tertiary studies in development, international relations or other related field).
  • Able to demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Able to demonstrate the desire to articulate and inform members of the Australian public on the aims and outcomes of international development and volunteering.
