There was a buzz in the Parliamentary Annex as people gathered for the bursary presentation for the 14th NCWQ Bursary Program. Congratulations to all the recipients and thank you to our kind sponsors and many volunteers who made it all happen. The 2022 Yearbook was also released. Do read their stories. You will be amazed!
All the 2022 NCWQ bursary recipients have been advised of their success. And in fairness to all, those who were not successful this year, are advised of that outcome, and we hope they consider applying next year. and Preparation for the presentation on 27 August is well underway.

The application dates for the 2022 NCWQ Bursary Program have been released. Additionally, Team Bursary are seeking new members to assist with coordination and selection. Team Bursary is a group about 30 strong, comprising coordinators and selection panellists. If you are interested in an inspiring time, we would love you to join our team.
The Department of Justice and Attorney General, through their Office for Women, has been a supporter of the NCWQ Bursary Program for a number of years. Four bursaries were sponsored in the 2021 NCWQ Bursary Program. Helena Franco was the recipient of the Office of Women (Leadership) Bursary. Helena is now studying at Harvard Medical School and she has kindly provided an update on her move to the USA and her studies.
The National Council of Women of Queensland Bursary Fundraising Morning Tea and Fashion Parade was held at the Tattersall’s Club 21 October. After COVID restrictions last year, we were all especially anticipating this year’s bursary fund-raising event. And the 200 people attending were not disappointed!
The National Council of Women of Queensland held their 13th Bursary Presentation at the heritage listed Old Museum Building on the 6th Oct. We are delighted that NCWQ’s Patron, His Excellency, the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC CVO, Governor of Queensland was able to join us and the bursary sponsors in awarding 35 worthy bursary recipients.
Kathy Cavanagh, NCWQ Bursary Manager and the team have great pleasure in announcing the release of the 2021 Bursary Recipients Yearbook. With COVID-uncertainties, this has proved a great way of bringing together the stories of the 35 recipients in this year’s program.
