Kathy Cavanagh, NCWQ Bursary Manager and the team have great pleasure in announcing the release of the 2021 Bursary Recipients Yearbook. With COVID-uncertainties, this has proved a great way of bringing together the stories of the 35 recipients in this year’s program.
Kathy Cavanagh, NCWQ Bursary Manager provides an update on the Bursary Presentation event and the Bursary Yearbook. Wednesday 6 October is the re-scheduled date for the presentation to the 2021 NCWQ Bursary Recipients. The E-Yearbook is well under development, with the expectation of launching it at the AGM on Wednesday 15 September.
On 22 July 2021, NCWQ hosted our Empowerment session on financial wellness, presented by Rhiannan Smit from Shadforths Financial Group. Thank you to all who attended. We had a wonderful turnout, both in person and online! The feedback was fantastic, and everyone left with some great insights into their next steps in taking better control of their financial wellness.
From 1 July 2021 the new membership year begins, and we will start sending out membership renewal invoices. Our process will be a bit different this year, so please keep an eye out on your spam folders to ensure the membership renewal email is not lost.
On 19 May 2021, NCWQ hosted the second in our Empowerment Series for 2021, a session on Tax Tips & Tricks hosted by our very own Treasurer, Ramona McGregor (Pilot Partners). Thank you to all who attended, it was a huge success, and we are very excited that we are able to reach those beyond the immediate Brisbane area!
UPDATED: NCWQ Call To Action due by 30 June 2021 – We are asking all members, supporters and friends of NCWQ to help us make a difference together. Our aim is to raise awareness of endometriosis and advocate for the State and Federal Governments to form a partnership to support and fund ongoing education for all girls in Queensland. Please write by 30 June 2021.
The ATO has recently released a Tax inVoice podcast episode on Super for Women. The episode features Assistant Commissioner Sonia Corsini, with Mariam Mohammad from Money Girl, discussing an equal financial future for women in regards to the Australian superannuation system.
Judith Parker AM was the NCWA President 2000-2003 and many of the current National Council of Women members would remember her. Judith passed recently and on behalf of the NCWQ, we would like to pass on our condolences to Judith’s family and friends, and we share with you all this story about Judith.
