“Taking Control of your Financial Independence” Event Recap

EVENT RECAP: On 25 November 2021, NCWQ hosted our final Empowerment session for the year, inviting back three of our past presenters to wrap up our series. Caroline Snow, NCWQ’s vice president, hosted a panel discussion on how women can gain an understanding and start (or continue) their journey to financial independence. In this session, we discussed what financial independence looks like, and how to start those conversations. Since this was our last event for the year, we would like to thank our members and friends who have come along and made this a great year for NCWQ.

Bursary Program 2022 Dates Released PLUS Join Team Bursary

The application dates for the 2022 NCWQ Bursary Program have been released. Additionally, Team Bursary are seeking new members to assist with coordination and selection. Team Bursary is a group about 30 strong, comprising coordinators and selection panellists. If you are interested in an inspiring time, we would love you to join our team.

An Update from Helena Franco, Office of Women (Leadership) Bursary Recipient

The Department of Justice and Attorney General, through their Office for Women, has been a supporter of the NCWQ Bursary Program for a number of years. Four bursaries were sponsored in the 2021 NCWQ Bursary Program. Helena Franco was the recipient of the Office of Women (Leadership) Bursary.  Helena is now studying at Harvard Medical School and she has kindly provided an update on her move to the USA and her studies.

The National Council of Women of Queensland held their 13th Bursary Presentation at the heritage listed Old Museum Building on the 6th Oct. Vale Emeritus Prof Dr Mary Mahoney AO

Emeritus Prof Mary Mahoney AO recently passed after a short illness. On behalf of the NCWQ, we would like to pass on our condolences to Dr Mahoney’s family and friends, and we share with you this article, originally published on the University of Queensland. NCWQ and the Queensland Medical Women’s Society (QMWS), celebrated her enormous contribution to the advancement of women in medicine and advocacy for women in leadership in happier pre-pandemic times in 2019 at the NCWQ Bursary High Tea for the QMWS 90th anniversary.
